what the freakin' fly?

Don't have much to say other than...."what the freakin' fly?" No really. I read an article today about Campbell's Swanson broth advertisement in a LGBT magazine that the American Family Association (AFA) has taken issue against.

My question is why? Why does the AFA believe Campbell's is "pushing the gay agenda?" Do they believe the soup manufacturer now wants to convince people to change their chosen lifestyle?

Note: The above is a rhetorical question. However, I would be interested in knowing your opinion on advertisements such as Campbell's, which is targeted to a certain audience based on media channel and creative execution. Do you believe it's offensive? Why or why not?

I don't really care what people do "in the bedroom" as long as they are consenting adults. Being gay is not like the cooties. I can't catch it.

Seeing these images in advertising won't sway me to be a different person, but I am glad to see companies acknowledging all types of lifestyles.

I hardly ever get to see a depiction of "me" in ways that I can relate to. I'm sure the GLBT community is similarly starved of images of themselves that aren't heavily derivative of tired stereotypes.

I have a problem with groups that want anyone that is not like them to be in the background or eliminated entirely. They don't speak for me or represent the principles this country is supposedly founded upon.

They need to get a life. If they are so against the GLBT why are they preoccupied with reading their periodicals and watching their shows just to catch advertisers?
