Long Live Direct Marketing

Just yesterday someone said direct marketing isn't very interesting and nothing is really happening. Well, I disagree. Direct Marketing will always be around, but like all media channels it will have to reinvent itself or evolve to continually engage the consumer. What are your thoughts?
